Iranian ‘Sunless Shadows’ to go on screen in US, Canada

Iranian doc ‘Sunless Shadows’ is to go on screen in several states in the US and Canada.

Iranian documentary ‘Sunless Shadows’ has been selected to go on screen in the US and Canada’s movie theaters.

Directed by Mehrdad Oskouee, the documentary has been screened at the 19th annual festival of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

It will also be screened in the Museum of the Moving Image in the American city as part of an online program.

The upcoming program is a review of Oskouee’s works that will be held on August 15-21.

The documentary is scheduled to go on screen in the US states of California, Illinois, Washington, New Mexico, Missouri, Oregon, Arizona, Iowa and New York, and Canadian cities of Vancouver and Montreal.

After being selected to open the 32nd edition of the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam in the Netherlands and grabbing the Best Director award at the festival, ‘Sunless Shadows’ entered many international events, including the 60th Krakow Film Festival in Poland, the 17th Big Sky International Film Festival in the US, the 12th Millennium Festival in Belgium, the 18th Geneva International Film Festival and Forum on Human Rights, etc.

The74-minute documentary narrates the story of five young women who are jailed in a small juvenile detention center for murder.

Through breathtaking monologues, the women clarify the circumstances of the murders and even their motives.
